le sigh

I mean to write posts more often than this, but let’s face it, dear reader, this fatigue flare just keeps going on and on. It’s like the Energizer Bunny, ironically.  And having said that, I had to make a picture of it (because I have no energy to do anything else today… blah), so here:

energizer bunny fatigue

The Energizer Bunny is the trademark of the Energizer batteries. I don’t own him blah blah blah legal stuff, blah blah blah… And what the hell, brain why do you keep wanting to spell energizer as engergizer? there’s only one /g/ in that word! >_<  Get with the program, brain, or I’m gonna poke you with a q-tip.

So, one of my favorite sayings to say to people when they ask me what I’ve been up to is, “A whole lot of nuthin’ and too much of everything else.”  Which means — “Not much of anything productive, and way too much of trivial such and such.”  But when you have to muster up the energy to get up and go answer the call of nature (which must be answered eventually), well, productivity just isn’t high on the “to do” list.

CPAP machine

Oh! I did break down and get a CPAP machine. I haven’t set it up yet, but I will this weekend. I have to move my bedroom furniture around first. The one we bought has a humidifier so it needs a steady base because it’s gonna be full of water. We bought it off of Amazon for half of what it would have cost us through the local dealer. Worry not, dear reader. I did my research… this is a trusted brand. It just doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles that seem to be so popular these days (no bluetooth or phone apps), so it’s discounted. Well, I don’t need my air delivering machine to be hooked up to my phone, so I’ll gladly pay $300 less for it. Since my sleep study was well over two years ago, I’m pretty sure that insurance won’t cover this, so we paid out of pocket for it. It was about $300 for the machine and about $150 for the mask set up. Since most CPAP machines run about $800 a for the machine alone, I think that’s pretty good. Here’s to hoping it works (and now if I can just get Doug to use one…) I love you, Doug! ^_^

So that’s it. Just me and my fatigue drudging through the day. Every day. Yesterday I had all kinds of energy and even did the dishes. I played with the dogs in the yard for a moment or two and even checked the mail. I was exhausted by 2PM, but hey, at least I had some energy! Today I woke up and my lungs said, Don’t even try. I’m warning you. Don’t even try. You’ll regret it if you do.  So I’m not even gonna try.  My lungs don’t have to tell me twice.

I would ask you to post something a WEEK after you get your C-pap set up and you have used it for those 7 days. Let us know if it’s impacted your energy at all. I’m asking for mainly selfish reasons…I keep getting told that using my own C-pap is ‘vital’ and I’ll feel loads better for it. And, having used it (or variations of it..they keep ‘upgrading’ the damned things too) for a while sporadically, now and then, I have to agree. I DID feel better and had more energy. I guess our beings love them some oxygen on a consistent basis. Who’d a thunk it? 😉 Take care dear. We’ll be here reading when you do feel like writing and I have a shite ton of questions on my page that you might find fun to answer (or not..no pressure).

I’ve been on a CPAP machine for around 8 years. I ain’t gonna lie and tell you it’s life changing (I have days I wanna chuck the thing out my 3rd story window) but I think it does help. I know I feel a difference in the morning if I fall asleep with the thing not strapped to my face.

    Feel better soon!
