If you were to pack a basket for picnic lunch, what would be in your basket? I dislike picnics in general, and really dislike carrying around food on principle. Whenever I go eat at the park or whatever, I tend to get food somewhere else and eat it. If I’m gonna go eat outdoors, I’m gonna let someone else do the cooking. My food of choice is generally chicken – Around here that means Popeye’s Fried Chicken because that’s all they have. In New Mexico, that meant Boston Market (roasted chicken meal was my to-go meal there). But there are no Boston Markets here in the Seattle area, which kind of sucks. Actually there are a lot of fast food places that aren’t here, and I’m not sure why. Boston Market is only one of them. Like, the nearest Wendy’s is miles and miles from here. Same with Kentucky Fried Chicken (which is why we’d have to do with Popeye’s for our picnic). And the nearest Weinersnitchel is an hour’s drive from here. Whenever Doug gets a craving for Godfather’s pizza, he has a good 45 minute drive ahead of him (I’m not a fan of Godfather’s pizza). Anyway And I like biscuits with my chicken. My drink of choice generally tends to be Diet Coke or coffee.
You might ask, dear reader, why I don’t just cook food for myself for a picnic, and that’s a good question. The answer is quite simple. Because I don’t want to. The only thing in my picnic basket would be utensils used to eat whatever food I buy for said picnic. Then I’m not schlepping food all over god’s little green Earth, just dishes. I try to even avoid that.
On a vacation what you would require in any place that you sleep? A soft-ish bed that’s not on the floor — meaning it has a frame and a box spring or something other than just a mattress — so no cots and no sleeping bags. And that would be a nope on the air mattresses too. This body is way too old and broken to be sleeping on the floor. And yeah, i need access to an actual bathroom too. My days of peeing in the woods or cups are way behind me too. Clean sheets would be nice. Wifi is always a good plus. And I absolutely need some way to heat water, so I can have coffee. I can bring my own instant coffee, so coffee isn’t necessary, but I need a way to heat water, and hey, a source of water is good too.
If you were to buy a new house/apartment what is the top three items on your wish list?
I was just talking to Doug about this yesterday.
1.) The next house we build/buy is going to have a porch, dammit! If I have my druthers, it will have a wrap around porch, otherwise, I’m happy with a front porch. I’m tired of being stuck indoors all the time but can’t go outside because I’m honestly allergic to the sun (it gives me a rash if I’m in the sunlight for too long). I love porches though, big, deep porches. I’d be on the porch all day long if I had a proper porch.
2.) Also, a fenced yard with a fence around the perimeter of property so when I’m outside the dogs can be outside with me and run around the yard. We have a fence, but it’s not around our entire property. It serves its purpose, but I’ve blogged about this stupid fence before. Okay, the fence we have now works, but it’s not exactly what I want. It was a bandage to a problem we had. The least expensive option.
3.) Next house we get is also going to be either newish or we’re gonna have it built for us. I am almost 99% sure that many of my breathing problems are tied to the fact that this house has mold or rot in this house we’re living in, and the only way to get rid of that would be to tear apart the house and fix it. A solution we cannot afford. Especially considering we’re planning on rebuilding the place (or maybe moving depending on the situation) in a few years. I’m not throwing money into a house that I don’t plan on living in for much longer.
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
So, I’ve been building things — virtually — in Fallout 4 because I don’t really have the energy to do much of anything else. And they have a building “kit” that lets one put together farm buildings and even spawn farm animals… if somewhat mutated. For example, the cows have two heads and the chickens (unmodded) are somewhat featherless. My chickens have feathers because I mod my game. Anyway, I built this barn with a chicken coop to the side and spawned a bunch of chickens to go inside the coop. And, being the ornery animals they are, they instantly left the coop and went everywhere but. Here’s a screenshot (and of course I have messed with it in Photoshop)
See? they are everywhere but inside the coop. Even on the barn roof. >_< Of course I do not expect them to stay inside the coop forever, but I’ve yet to see them return to the coop in which they were spawned. Ah well, it’s a nice coop and it looks pretty. I believe I can put some nests in there, maybe that will lure some of them back in. ^_^
