So, I thought I’d give this another shot. I even went out and took some pictures with my phone because my camera needs batteries. They’re not great pictures, but they came out okay. The theme this week is ‘ground’ and the rules are: Your photos can show anything that covers the ground like: sand, dirt, grass, paths, walks, trails, etc. This is a topic you can really have enjoy. Let’s see how creative you can get. I’m looking forward to what you all decide to post. I just want you to have some fun with your photography.
So, I’ve mentioned this before, but I love grass. I hate lawns, but I love grass. I’m lucky to live in a house were we’re not near anyone who can give me shit about not mowing our “lawn” because I honestly hate lawns. I think they’re a waste of space and they are totally not useful to wildlife. But grass? Grass is great. I have a ton of grass in my yard. So I took a picture just for this challenge:
two actually… the one above, and this one because I love how the grass is growing up around this bush. By the way, if anyone knows what kind of bush/tree this is, let me know. I have no idea.
So the first picture I did two different black and white filters to it — because it was interesting to play with the shadows and I wanted to make something pop. This was my first one:
I was going for subtle with the bush in the corner. It’s still black and white, but it’s not the sepia overtones that the rest of the picture has. Then I tried to bring out the “pink/purple” of the grass — which is why I love to let the grass grow because my yard is just full of feathery goodness right now, and this is what I came up with:
So, I’m still trying to get the whole black and white thing down… 🙂 Anyway, Here’s the bush in black and white. I like how this one came out.
I was gonna try to get rid of the house in the background, but in black and white, it’s not as distracting…
So there you go. Hope you enjoyed my foray into playing with black and white. I might do a few more of these. They’re fun. I like trying them on my Skyrim screenshots too, but when there’s a “topic” that doesn’t always work. Ha! and I’m not sure if screenshots count as “photography” hehehehe. ^_^ Either way, it’s still fun. Thanks, Cee, for the challenge.
