So, Cee is on vacation, but another blogger — sonofabeach96 (whom I don’t know, but Cee posted the link on her page) has taken up the baton for her whilst she is away. The theme for this week is “chilling out”. Since I mostly do Skyrim screenshots, it was difficult to pick one that fit with that theme. I went with a recent shot I took of my latest character just noshing on some cheese right after clearing a dungeon… you know, like you do. ^_^
Here’s the original:
And this is what I came up with:
You’d think that since it was mostly brown, it would be easy to turn into a black and white photo… You, dear reader, would be wrong if you thought so. 🙂 There’s a lot of tweaking that goes on before making a picture monochrome. And nothing I did would make the flame look good in monochrome, so I kept it colored. I think it looks good that way. 🙂
I also discovered something the other day which was pretty picturesque and thought I’d take some screenshots there… So my character just kinda chilled out on the edge while I zoomed the camera in and out around her. That kinda fits in with the theme… kinda. ^_^ The black and white is pretty dramatic though.
Here’s the original:
So, the original is light and airy, but I was going for dark and dramatic with the black and white. I kind of wanted to make her look isolated and alone in the world. But with the light from her lantern making her a beacon of hope… or something like that. ^_^ Also, the blue from the game really didn’t emphasise that there was a storm going on in the background. Yeah, it was a ways away, but it was still there.
I think I’m getting the hang of the lighting effects. I still need practice, but I’m getting better at it. One day, I’ll look up a tutorial for it and to things right. But for now, it’s fun trying new things. I think I need new glasses though. I’m having a really hard time focusing on anything, and it’s way difficult to do these when everything looks blurry. >_< I have an appointment for the eye person in two weeks, so we’ll see.
So that’s all I have for this challenge. My energy levels are down again, probably because the temperatures are up again. I had a difficult time just keeping my eyes open today. Like concentrating was… hard. Hopefully, the weather will make up its mind soon.
