Sharing My World 10/8/18

Do you prefer Apple (‘I’ products) or Android for your technology ‘fix’?   Not gonna lie, Apple makes some nice products, they do.  But I learned on the PC and it’s what I’ve used forever and ever. I had an iPod touch when they first came out — friend got one free with his computer and he already had one, so he sold it to me cheap. Anyway, it was nice. I kept it until it wouldn’t update anymore because the software was too old — so about… five years? That’s a good, long time in technology years. 🙂 The thing is, Mac products are super expensive and very proprietary. Though they are getting better with the proprietary thing. There was a time when you couldn’t run anything but Apple products on a Mac computer, but they lost a bunch of customers that way — Microsoft office is the universal standard in the business world, and if one person can’t send there stuff to the next because the next has a Mac, well… that’s just bad for business. So now you can run office on a Mac.  Still, Macs are way expensive. The laptop I’m using now is pretty choice for a Window’s computer, and it would have been at least twice as much for a Mac. I can guarantee it. Having said that, if I could justify spending that much money on a Mac, I’d totally do it.

What’s something on your personal bucket list? I’d like to figure out what’s wrong with my gut and fix it if possible. It’s an ongoing battle, and one that has the doctors baffled. I was thinking about this not too long ago.  This pain I have in my innards is exactly where my gall bladder used to be, and I’ve been working under the assumption for the past three or so years that it’s due to something they did when they took my gall bladder out — because it got worse after the surgery. But now I think that’s wrong.  Why? Because it got worse after the surgery. Which means it was there before the surgery. It’s been there for decades. Like… all this time, I’ve had this pain and I assumed it was my gallbladder causing it because that’s what the doctors told me it was. But they took the gallbladder out, and it just go progressively worse. So… it couldn’t have been the gallbladder all of this time, right?  Which means it’s basically back to the drawing board.

What would you name your boat if you had one?   The Waving Willow or Will o’ the Waves or something along those lines. I’ve never actually had my name on something, and I’d totally put my name on my boat.

Also, what would it look like? Do you want a motor yacht, a sailboat, or perhaps a dinghy? If I were to buy a boat, it would be a houseboat.  I had a friend in high school whose family lived on a boat. It was a long time ago, and I only visited her place once,  but I’m not sure hers was a “proper” houseboat. Still, I thought that was the coolest thing ever. Mine would be more like a shack on a raft than a proper boat though. Not fit for sea or lake, but I could float it down a river or two. 🙂

Which fictional character would be the most boring to meet in real life?  I dunno, there are a lot of boring fictional characters out there. And I’m guessing that outside of their heroics, most protagonists are pretty mundane.

And finally:

What brought gratitude, a smile or laughter to your life this week?

I’ve been sick most of the week, so I’ve been watching videos. I ran across this woman in my video watching ways and she’s a treat for the mind. She has quite a few videos, but in the spirit of Halloween, I’ll post this one.

Er um…I THOUGHT I’d replied, but apparently not. Um. Apologies. Your answers were unique to Willow and very interesting as usual. And the video? *insert emoticon laughing with tears” :’D

Now, I have another request for you m’am and I’m going to try to wave at you at the Face Place and tell you there as well:

I’d like it if you’d do us the honor of continuing the tale of “The Smallest Acorn”. Here’s my link:

If you don’t want to or are feeling too under the weather, let me know and I’ll see whom else I might ask. But I HOPE you’ll do it. You’ll see why when you read the story. 😉

I have an android mobile phone which I use when I need it. I also have three Kindles which are a form of Android that I use constantly. But really, I prefer my PCs. This big one that I use for most work I do. It’s powerful and you can fix it if it breaks. I also have a very lightweight “air” Mac that I got specifically so when we travel, I don’t have to haul 10 pounds of PC. I use the Mac lightly, but I prefer the PC by a huge percentage. I like PC organization much better. Maybe it’s just that I’m really used to that PC, but I find the Mac baffling and have trouble finding high-quality graphics applications to use with it.

I have one, older, Kindle which I haven’t used in awhile. It’s not holding a charge very well, and the charging dock is broke — too loose. The big question becomes… fix it or get a new one? In this day and age, it’s usually cheaper to get a new one, which goes against the grain.
