What traditional Christmas decoration is actually a parasitic plant? I forgot to answer this one. ^_^ I think it’s mistletoe. Holly is a tree (or bush), Poinsettias are just plants that grow on their own… Christmas trees are, well… trees. and I can’t think of other “traditional” Christmas decorations that are plants. So yeah, mistletoe would be my guess.
Name something about this holiday season (whatever version you may celebrate) that most people like, but you dislike? So people seem to really like giving presents to just about everyone in their life, co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances, the mailman, everyone! I hate that. I really do. I give presents to the people immediately around me. My husband, my kids if they’re in my every day life and my close friends. That’s it. If one gives gifts to everyone and their uncle, it negates the — I dunno — pleasure of gift giving, and getting — in my humble opinion… I don’t like feeling obligated to give everyone and their cousin a gift. It’s just not enjoyable to me. And like, getting a token from someone who’s just handing out tokens is like, “Wow, thanks for thinking of me.” (not). Though I suppose I shouldn’t begrudge the people who enjoy doing this, it’s just not my thing. I’m the same way with cards too. I’m not a big card person. I used to be, but now… not so much. Having said that, I used to like baking cookies and other sweet stuff and sharing those with said co-workers and neighbors, but that’s not the same, because I could do that at any time of the year, not just Christmas. During the holiday season I’d just bake holiday themed cookies is all.
What’s your favorite – or least favorite – song sung traditionally at this time of year? I used to love the traditional Do You Hear what I Hear? until I heard it too many times and in too many variations on the radio. Now I don’t listen to the radio for just that reason. I do like the instrumental Little Drummer Boy and I’ll jam to some Trans-Siberian Orchestra when I’m in the mood. Though they are not traditional. 🙂
And the last one ——— In the song “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer,” what “incriminating” evidence was found on Grandma’s back? She had incriminating “clause” marks on her back. I used to like that song until (again) they played it way too much on the radio. I think they even made a cartoon out of it on TV? I’m pretty sure they did. Hold up, let me check that out. Yep, it was an animated movie animated movie I knew I remembered that. Over saturation will kill anything. It’s too bad too because it’s a funny song when it comes on every once in a while. The music video sucked rocks though.
Finally: What would you like to share with the world, if time or cost were no object? I’ve always loved this commercial because it’s always struck true to me:
