Captcha needed, I think

So yeah, I get the feeling that there’s an AI here on WordPress. One who has their own site, who comments on not just my blog posts but blog posts of other people whom I follow as well. Now, it could be that this person just has… unusual language skills and not so great communication skills. And maybe it’s just a coincidence that this person tends to like posts almost immediately after they’re posted — long before there’s time to read said posts — and then follows soon after with vague comments that kind of make sense but sometimes are in the uncanny valley area.

So, I’m not pointing any fingers, because I could totally be wrong about this, but it’s just… interesting if it’s true. Like, if there is an AI on WordPress with their own site who comments on our posts, what’s the purpose? Is it a social experiment? Is it someone trying something just for the fun of it? AI’s don’t spring into existence on their own. They have to be programmed to do what they do. It doesn’t bother me if I’m right… not too much anyway. I just wonder what’s behind the smokescreen. That’s the way my mind works.

I had to stop letting just anyone comment. I was getting slammed by Russian/Eastern Bloc bots with porn. So, now everyone has to register to comment.

Now, I’m getting follows and likes from five mortgage companies, all showing up within 24 hours. And, their blogs were all just created. Surely, my posts aren’t that interesting to mortgage lenders in Texas.

I get some… interesting… spam. I’ve posted some of it, but most of it gets filtered, and as you saw new comments have to be approved.

Really?? How creepy. I haven’t noticed this happening, but I don’t have a clue whether or not anyone has liked my post or when. And the comments I see are usually from folks I know pretty well after long association. Now it occurs to me that maybe the A.I. has the same bad habit as I do, I usually skim through the reader, cherry picking the posts I want to read, and liking all of them (mostly). Um. It’s rude, but wasn’t it you who said the ‘like’ could be interpreted as “Hi! I saw your post, and wanted to say Hi. Didn’t read the whole thing (necessarily).” ? I used to try to read every post in my reader and I wasted whole days doing that. Now I follow roughly 150 blogs or more, and trying to read every post is futile. So is resistance. But if there is an A.I. masquerading as a blogger on here, I’m now really curious about WHY. Does this pseudo-human ever post anything? That makes sense and is substantive? And I’m wildly curious as to who, but I’ll respect that stirring that pot might get a lot of sh*t splattered about and hurt feelings potentially, and probably wars which is why I rarely go to Facebook any more. Umm.

The like comes almost immediately after posting. Like seconds after. That’s what makes me go… hmmmm.

I did say that I’ll often like something without commenting, however, I often at least *try* to read it first. ^_^ Or at least skim through it. But seconds after it’s posted? That’s not even trying.

The person I’m talking about does have their own blog and does post things. And the things post are… interesting. Grammatically correct for the most part, but still off. Like I said, going into the uncanny valley. It could be that they just have an odd way of speaking. I dunno. But it did get me thinking that there’s possibly an AI here and I just wondered that if this was so… why?

I just got this comment: โ€œHi there, I enjoy reading through your weblog post. You guys are doing a great work. I like to write a little comment to support you.โ€ Sounds legit, right? ๐Ÿ˜

I occasionally feel this way, when I publish a very long post and within seconds of publishing it, I see a blogger like it. I don’t usually get a comment to follow. But a couple of times I’ve had a “nice post” with the like. I did kind of wonder.

But I do realize it is hard to keep up with everyone’s posts. I think I have reached my maximum in my WP Reader because I do not think I could possibly keep up with more posts appearing in my Reader.
